Rob Mason

Guitar • Mandolin • Bass

Rob Mason has been teaching music for over 30 years. He began teaching guitar as a means to fund both his college education and the studio recordings of his band, The Way In. While The Way In became very successful due to these efforts – headlining at major venues, opening for national recording artists, and receiving major radio airplay – Rob always felt more inclined toward teaching and chose to pursue this avenue when The Way In disbanded. While he performed with many other acts after the Way In, teaching has always been his passion.

Today Rob teaches guitar, bass, mandolin, ukulele, songwriting, and music theory on a weekly basis. He teaches all age groups at all levels, and all musical styles are welcome. Rob’s years of teaching experience in both individual and class settings, as well as lessons learned from 13 years in Toastmasters and over 20 years managing projects for the U.S. military, have helped him to formulate lesson plans that make his lessons both educational and enjoyable. Positive reviews of his lessons from his independent students earned him Thumbtack “Best Of” awards in 2015 and 2016.

Rob Mason holds a BS degree (chemistry major, music minor) from Fairleigh-Dickinson University. He is a Toastmasters Advanced Communicator Gold (ACG), a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), and a Boy Scout Advisor. He is a father of three great kids, including two multi-instrumental musicians and a special needs child who is both a pianist and a singer with the prestigious Florida Boychior.

Rob continues to be thankful for the opportunity to provide a great musical experience for his students.

TESTIMONIALS

“Rob has been a very patient, enthusiastic teacher for my son. He had a flexible teaching style and was always eager to spend time with him. With the relatively short amount of time of weekly instruction, and of course hours of practice, my son was able to form a band and perform at local venues.”

“My experience as a parent working with Rob was very good as well as he was always polite and professional and often invited me to sit in on their sessions if I was interested.  I would highly recommend Rob to any student with interest in learning to play the guitar.”
