Juan earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies, Summa Cum Laude, from CUNY’s City College of New York, NY in 2022. He also earned a Diploma in Music Performance from Drummers Collective in New York in 2018. His notable instructors include Marko Djordjevic, Peter Retzlaff and Nasheet Waits.
While in New York, Juan immersed himself in the city’s busy and diverse music scene, establishing himself as a multi-instrumentalist performing as a drummer for several Jazz, Rock and Gospel groups; a bassist for Reggae and Salsa bands; and as an accompanying pianist for R&B and Pop artists. After completing his studies, he relocated to Tampa, FL in 2022 where he continues to perform, arrange and compose music for numerous groups in the area.
As a teacher, Juan tailors his lessons to each student’s goals and interests, making learning feel personal, fun and thorough. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
