Lee brings decades of performance and teaching experience to his students, along with a deep passion for rhythm and musical expression. A dedicated drum set and percussion specialist, Lee currently offers private lessons in drum set, percussion, and voice.
Lee has taught at respected music programs including music schools and academies and his own studio.
His teaching background also includes experience at The International School of Prague in the Czech Republic, as well as leading drum circles and rhythm workshops for children ages 3–17 through nonprofit programs.
Lee’s musical training is extensive and diverse. He studied at The Drummers Collective in New York City under renowned educator Kim Plainfield, trained in Brazilian bateria with Dr. Philip Galinsky (SAMBA NY), studied African percussion abroad, and completed private drum set study with Gregg Bendian of the Mahavishnu Project.
Lee has performed all over the world and recorded with Grammy Award Winning musicians such as Bob Lanzetti (Snarky Puppy), Gary Lucas (Collaborator of Jeff Buckley’s Grace Album) and David Johansen (NY Dolls / Buster Poindexter).
He performs locally with artists such as Sarasota Slim & Charlie Morris, to name a few. He has also been known to have advanced students perform with him from time to time so they can get that amazing feeling of playing in front a live audience.
Whether working with beginners learning their first groove or advanced players refining technique and musicality, Lee focuses on strong fundamentals, creativity, and helping each student build confidence. Music is Lee’s passion and he feels teaching is his calling.
