Mr. Landi has been formally involved with music since 1996, and has always sought to develop well-rounded musicianship – both in performance and in teaching.

Growing up in a suburb outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mr. Landi took private percussion and piano lessons while participating in a diverse array of school ensembles. Some of these ensembles included concert bands, wind ensembles, jazz bands, marching bands, orchestras, choirs, percussion ensembles, and a steel drum band. In his senior year of high school, he served as Drum Major for the marching band. Additionally, during high school years, Mr. Landi honed his love for teaching others by teaching private music and swim lessons, while serving as an assistant swim team coach.

Mr. Landi received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from The Pennsylvania State University. While at Penn State, he studied Percussion with Dan C. Armstrong, and played in the top bands and orchestra under the batons of Dennis Glocke, Richard Bundy, and Gerardo Edelstein; highlighted by performances at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh and the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia. Mr. Landi also sang in the Glee Club under the direction of Dr. Christopher Kiver, where he went on tours to Chicago and Boston. Additionally, he marched with the Penn State Marching Blue Band under the direction of Dr. Richard Bundy, and performed in the 2009 Rose Bowl and Tournament of Roses Parade. He additionally performed in a jazz combo, playing drum set.

Mr. Landi received his Master’s degree in Music Education from West Chester University, where he completed his Master’s Research in rhythm perception and cognition while participating in several Wind Band Conducting Symposiums led by various renowned collegiate wind conductors from across the nation.

Mr. Landi is currently in his 11th year of school teaching, having taught elementary general music and choral classes. Middle school concert and jazz bands, and high school concert, marching, and jazz bands. Upon completion of his student teaching experience in York, Pennsylvania, Mr. Landi was invited to the Youth Music Abroad’s Europe trip as a conductor and chaperone. He has also served as Pit Instructor with the Haverford and Penncrest High School Marching Bands. His responsibilities included teaching percussion technique and musicianship as well as arrange parts for both the Marching Band and Indoor Percussion programs.

For seven years, he taught instrumental music (4th and 5th grade bands) in the Lower Merion School District, where he taught pull-out homogeneous woodwind, brass, and percussion lessons, as well as conducted full-band rehearsals and concerts. He created a Mariachi Band and a French Festival Wind Ensemble at his schools to supplement the Foreign Language in Elementary Schools program.

In Mr. Landi’s current teaching position, he teaches general music classes to Pre-K through 4th Grade students. Each year, he puts on a holiday musical production involving Kindergarten through 2nd grade students, as well as a spring musical involving 3rd and 4th grade students. Musical literacy, performance, aesthetics, global music, and music history are the pillars that serve as the foundation for Mr. Landi’s general music instruction.

Mr. Landi’s professional affiliations include: National Association for Music Educators (NAfME), Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA), Florida Elementary Music Educators Association (FEMEA), and the American Musicological Society (AMS).
